Acupuncture is an ancient modality which originated in China. Using fine needles inserted just under the skin at specific points along the meridians (energy pathways through the body), it is possible to stimulate, disperse, and balance the flow of energy to relieve pain and treat a variety of chronic, acute, and degenerative conditions. One-time use disposable needles are used. Swedish Massage is most commonly used for relaxation. It is a soothing manipulation of the muscles using long, smooth strokes with a light to moderate pressure. Deep Tissue Massage is a general term which encompasses several techniques that are effective in manipulating the deeper muscle layers using moderate to heavy pressure Trigger Point Release is firm, sustained pressure to a specific point within the muscle. This intense pressure disperses concentrations of toxins within the muscle tissue and promotes increased circulation and an easing of restriction within the muscle. Athletic Massage is used for pre-event preparation and post-event recovery of the muscles. Stimulating, percussive and abrupt strokes are used as well as PNF stretching. Post- Surgical Scar Tissue Technique is very effective in increasing mobility and restoring strength by using very focused deep tissue massage to loosen adhesion restrictions caused by forming scar tissue. Pregnancy Massage is for the expectant mother and child throughout the entire pregnancy. Technique, draping and positioning change with the tri-mester as well as continuous re-evaluation for carpal tunnel, sciatica, edema, low back pain and possible contraindications. Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is a "laying on of hands" that treats the person as a whole: Body, mind, emotions and spirit. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Benefits include relaxation, feelings of peace, security and well-being. Reflexology restores balance of energy flow through the body by applying focused pressure to specific areas of the foot which correspond to other areas and organs of the body. Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a gentle method of detecting and correcting imbalances in the rhythm of the craniosacral system. By using delicate manual techniques to relieve pressure on the brain and spinal cord, your body's natural healing mechanisms can dissipate the effects of stress on your central nervous system. Hot Stone Massage is Swedish massage performed using smooth, heated stones to glide over the surface of the skin. The gentle warming sensation creates deep relaxation. Cross Fiber uses short, repetitive unidirectional strokes across the tissue to realign the muscle fibers and increase circulation. Hydrotherapy in the form of moist heat or ice can help reduce inflammation, alleviate muscle tightness, increase circulation and promote relaxation. Stretching/Range of Motion uses passive movement techniques to lengthen muscles, increase flexibility and reduce pain. Ear Candling is a centuries-old method of removing wax build-up in the ears. This painless and non-invasive treatment can be helpful in easing symptoms of sinus congestion, ear ache and "swimmer's ear." It is recommended that ear candling be performed at the change of each season and/or as needed. |
